Radiance for the spring

By Tuesday, May 01, 2012

Recently my skin has been looking a bit tired and dull so I figured I best try some of those radiance balms. I just wanted to put a natural, healthy glow back in my face without a primer or highlighter as my skin is being very temperamental at the moment. I break out instantly with any silicone-based primer/highlighter which is very annoying. Meet the two contenders:

No7 Instant Radiance Beauty Balm

I've been using the No7 Instant Radiance Beauty Balm (available here) for several months now. I normally put it on in the morning as a base for my foundation. The balm glides on easily and feels very pleasant. The effect it has on my overall appearance is great: my skin looks awake, glowing, almost flushed (but not too much). It's available for £16 which is reasonable considering that I'm only half way through the little bottle after about 5 months. The Radiance range also includes a foundation and concealer I haven't been able to try yet but would love to give it a go as well.

Soap & Glory Bright Here Bright Now Instant Radiance Energy Balm

As I am a lover of Soap & Glory this product quickly caught my eye. The Bright Here Bright Now Instant Radiance Energy Balm (available here) comes in a generous 50ml tube and fun packaging. To be honest it already gives me a boost just looking at it, their design is gorgeous! The balm glides on easily but does feel a bit more gloopy than the No7 one. It has a fresh mint scent which definitely helps. So far so good...unfortunately that's where the energy ends. The balm did very little to my complexion, my face looked as tired as ever. I did try and give it a go for several days but it didn't reveal any more properties apart from being a pleasant moisturiser. It has a much lower price tag at £11 but I don't think I would buy it again.

I just picked up the Origins VitaZing Energy-boosting Moisturiser and am very excited to try it as I've heard so much about it. Any other recommendations regarding a pick-me-up balm or moisturiser?
